Privacy Highlights for Families

  • Safety First: We do not collect real names, phone numbers, or personal email addresses from students under 18. Instead, we encourage the use of fictional “Spanish Personas” for learning immersion.
  • Parent-Managed: All accounts for minors must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. We use Stripe to securely process payments and verify adult identity.
  • What We Sync: To track learning progress, we securely sync educational data (such as vocabulary lists, study logs, and exercise results) to our AWS servers. This data is encrypted and never sold or shared.
  • Your Control: We keep learning data for 6 months after an account is cancelled to allow for easy reactivation. You can request the immediate deletion of all your data at any time by emailing support@parsomni-voices.com.

This Privacy Notice describes how Educational Development Corporation (doing business as Pars Omni, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at parsomni.com and our Spanish Fluency Membership Program.

By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described in this notice.

What information we collect

Account and billing information

When you subscribe to the Membership Program, we collect the information needed to create your account and process payment:

  • Name and email address (required to create your account)
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe; we do not store credit card numbers on our servers
  • Date of birth (collected for Parent/Guardian accounts to verify age eligibility)
  • For Parent/Guardian accounts: confirmation of parental consent and the date it was given

Learning progress data

The Membership Program tracks your practice activity to support your learning. This includes:

  • Time spent in each practice activity
  • Vocabulary lists and exercise results
  • Study session logs

This data is stored on secure AWS servers, encrypted in transit and at rest, and is tied to your account. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than providing the Membership service.

Website usage data

Like most websites, parsomni.com collects basic technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This information is used only for site security and performance monitoring and is not linked to your personal identity.

Contact form submissions

When you use our contact forms, we collect your name, email address, and message content solely to respond to your enquiry. This information is not added to any mailing list without your explicit consent.

Children’s privacy

We take the privacy of younger users seriously and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the California Age-Appropriate Design Code.

Minimum age

The Membership Program is available to students aged 13 and older. Children under 13 may not register.

Parent and guardian accounts

Students under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian create and manage their account. The parent or guardian is the account holder of record and is responsible for all account activity.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from users under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us at support@parsomni-voices.com.

What we do not collect from students

The desktop Membership Program does not collect the student’s real name, personal email address, phone number, or any information that could be used to identify them outside the program. Students are encouraged to use a fictional Spanish persona for learning immersion purposes.

Data retention for minor accounts

We retain learning progress data for 6 months after an account is cancelled to allow for easy reactivation. After that period, or upon request, all data associated with the account is permanently deleted.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Process subscription payments via Stripe
  • Deliver the Membership Program and track your learning progress
  • Send you transactional emails (account confirmation, installation instructions, billing receipts)
  • Respond to your enquiries and support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, behavioural profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering our services.

Who we share information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with the following service providers, and only as necessary to operate our services:

  • Stripe — payment processing and adult identity verification
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — secure cloud storage for learning progress data
  • WP Mail SMTP / SendGrid — transactional email delivery

Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies for the following purposes:

  • Session management — to keep you signed in to your account
  • Age gate — a short-lived session cookie is used to remember age verification results during your visit, preventing repeated age checks in the same session
  • WordPress functionality — standard cookies used by WordPress and MemberPress for login and security

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to sign in or use the Membership Program.

Your rights and choices

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Request the deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent for any optional communications
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption on all pages of parsomni.com
  • Encrypted storage of learning data on AWS servers
  • Payment processing handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number
  • Access to personal data limited to authorised personnel only

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we do our best to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your learning progress data for 6 months to allow for easy reactivation, after which it is permanently deleted. Billing records are retained as required by law.

Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
